4-Legged Quake Victims Need Assistance Too

Share

* The West Valley Animal Shelter is overcome by runaway cats and dogs. Officials threaten to destroy the ones not claimed by owners or adopted .

The city of Los Angeles has the money to deal with this problem. This is an emergency like all the other earthquake emergencies that are getting funded. I can’t understand the attitude that so much federal, state and private money is coming in for “relief,” and they say they will destroy animals because they can’t keep them forever.

They don’t have to keep them forever, just long enough for their owners to find them, or to be adopted into new homes, or to be taken by animal rescue organizations.

It will be a blight on all the goodwill that is going on now if the four-legged victims are killed by the city after they survived the natural disaster.

If each of us took care of one animal and got others to do it, all the animals could be saved.
