Quake Aid / A Resource Guide
LOANS
A loan fund has been established to help owners repair or strengthen earthquake-damaged historic buildings.
Owners of historic properties can use the loans to stabilize, weatherize or make emergency repairs to residential, religious and commercial buildings.
Loans up to $20,000 are available at 4% interest. There is a $100 application fee. The program is sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, First Interstate Bank of California and the Getty Conservation Institute. Information: (213) 614-2206.
SHELTER
The American Red Cross continues to aid Santa Monica area residents affected by the quake.
A service center at 1527 4th St. is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The Santa Monica chapter provides food, shelter, health care, counseling and other services. Information: (310) 260-9187.
COUNSELING
Airport Marina Counseling Service offers free earthquake discussion groups.
Drop-in groups meet daily. The center is at 6228 W. Manchester Ave., Los Angeles. Information: (310) 670-1410.
