Cerritos Resident Named to Regional Park Authority

Cerritos resident Ramesh C. Mahajan has been appointed to the Cerritos Regional County Park Authority. Mahajan operates a food and catering service.

Long Beach resident Pamela Briley has been appointed to the Los Angeles Services Authority for Homeless Services. Briley, a member of the Long Beach Homeless Coalition and Habitat for Humanity’s board of directors, owns a real estate services business.

Cal State Long Beach has appointed Chris Talmadge to chair the department of nursing. Talmadge, a nursing educator with more than 20 years’ experience, lives in Long Beach.

Long Beach artist Patrick Mohr has been commissioned to create a public art project at Oceangate Tower at Ocean Boulevard and Queensway Drive, Long Beach. Mohr was selected from a field of 13 regional artists in an invitational competition organized by the Long Beach-based Public Corporation for the Arts. The Mutual Life Insurance Co. is commissioning the work.

Joy Blair, a Long Beach Memorial Medical Center clinical social worker, was named Worker of the Year by the Oncology Social Workers Assn. of Southern California. The association selected Blair for her work counseling cancer patients undergoing treatment at Memorial Radiation Oncology Center. She also leads cancer and bereavement support groups.

Samuel Siegel, Pico Rivera’s city attorney since 1968, has retired. His successor is Scott Nichols, who has practiced municipal law in California since 1975 and has been city attorney for Walnut since 1980. He holds a law degree from Pepperdine University.

Long Beach resident Joseph S. Devinny, a USC engineering professor, has received the Wesley H. Homer Award recognizing outstanding work in the field of environmental engineering. Devinny won for his collaboration on a study of corrosion of concrete sewer pipes by bacteria-caused acid.

The California Assn. of Nurserymen has named Ray Sidey of Ezell’s Nursery Supply Inc. of Bellflower the 1993 recipient of the President’s Award in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to the horticulture industry.
