NHL ROUNDUP : Rookie Arnott Scores 2 for Oilers

Rookie Jason Arnott scored only 49 seconds into the game Wednesday, then added another goal to power the Oilers to a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Edmonton, Canada.
Arnott, a 19-year-old center, slipped behind the Toronto defense and banged home Zdeno Ciger’s pass from behind the net.
He then scored the game-winning goal 53 seconds into the third period when Ciger, who had four assists, sent him in alone on goal.
New Jersey 7, Detroit 2--Defenseman Scott Stevens had a goal and two assists at Detroit, where the Devils ended a seven-game road winless streak.
New Jersey was 0-3-4 in its previous seven road games.
Goalie Chris Terreri made 30 saves as he extended his unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).
Detroit’s three-game winning streak was snapped.
Montreal 3, San Jose 1--Eric Desjardins had a goal and an assist at Montreal as the Canadiens continued their domination of the Sharks.
The Canadiens are 6-0-2 against the Sharks since San Jose joined the NHL for the 1991-92 season, including a 4-0 record at the Forum.
Boston 6, New York Rangers 3--Dimitri Kvartalnov scored twice and Adam Oates extended his point streak to eight games at New York with a goal and two assists for the Bruins.
Jon Casey extended his unbeaten streak to 10 games (8-0-2) by stopping 23 shots.
