BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : DeLeon Hurt; White Sox Sign Sanderson
Chicago White Sox right-hander Jose DeLeon will be sidelined three to six weeks because of a knee injury suffered during fielding drills. DeLeon spent most of last season with Philadelphia, going 3-0 with a 3.26 earned-run average.
To bolster their staff, the White Sox signed right-hander Scott Sanderson to a minor league contract. He split time last last season between the Angels and San Francisco.

Relief pitcher Ted Power, 39, of the Seattle Mariners will require major urgery on his right shoulder. . . . Boston Red Sox Manager Butch Hobson was hit in the head by a foul ball during batting practice at Ft. Myers, Fla., and was treated with smelling salts after experiencing dizziness. Hobson was being interviewed near the dugout when a one-hop grounder by Ruben Rodriguez struck him above his left ear.
