MOORPARK : City Waives Tickets on New Parking Law

Share

After Moorpark police issued 110 parking tickets during the first week of a new city law that makes on-street parking illegal during scheduled street sweeping, the City Council decided to disregard the infractions and issued only warnings for another week.

In response to phoned complaints and one resident who angrily brought his ticket to Wednesday’s council meeting, council members voted 4-0 to waive the $30 citations on the tickets already issued and not do any further ticketing until Thursday.

“There have been some people who felt somewhat betrayed,” Mayor Paul Lawrason said.

The new law bans on-street parking on Tuesdays or Thursdays, depending on the regular street-sweeping schedule. Residents should look for signs indicating when street sweeping occurs in their area or can call City Hall for more information at 529-6864.
