Countywide : King Case Attorney Will Lecture Today
The attorney who represented Los Angeles police Officer Laurence M. Powell during the Rodney King case will give a free lecture this morning on his strategy during the case at the Fullerton campus of Western State University College of Law.
Michael Stone, a Western State graduate, will speak about the landmark case and also about the arrival and effect of new courtroom technology such as the laser-disc equipment he has used to present visual information to jurors.
The notorious 88.8-second home video of police officers beating motorist King during a traffic stop will be shown, as will some exhibits from the case such as a skull replica and photos.
Stone will also discuss the focus of his career, police law and litigation and governmental liability defense.
The two-hour lecture begins at 10 a.m. at the law college, 1111 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton.
