AMY MORENO Goalkeeper El Modena, Sr. Century League most valuable player. Led the Vanguards, ranked third in the county, to their first league title in girls’ soccer. She had a .60 goals-against average and recorded 12 shutouts.

TIFFANY BROWN Defender Santa Margarita, Sr. Strong stopper who helped Santa Margarita to the Sea View League title. A four-year starter and two-time first-team all-league pick, she is deciding between UCLA and California.

MARCY CROUCH Defender Marina, Jr. Defensive co-player of the year in the Sunset League, helping Vikings to 23 shutouts. Took most of the team’s corner and free kicks and had two assists in the Division I title game.

MICHELLE KAPING Defender Edison, Sr. Heady sweeper who directed the Charger defense and helped them finish second in the Sunset League and reach the Division I quarterfinals. She will play for UCLA this fall.

JOY LINDSAY Defender Esperanza, Sr. Major reason the Aztecs, who finished second in Empire League, advanced to Division II title game. Four-year starter at fullback, became the sweeper this season and ran the defense.

ERIN BAILEY Midfielder Edison, Sr. Sunset League most valuable player last year, she had 15 goals and 15 assists this season for the Chargers, who were ranked second in the county. She will play at USC this fall.

LINDSAY LIGHT Midfielder Capistrano Valley, Sr. South Coast League most valuable player who had 12 goals and 11 assists. Helped the second-place Cougars advance to the Division I semifinals, where they lost to Palos Verdes Peninsula, 2-0.

RHIANNON TANAKA Midfielder Marina, Sr. Four-year starter who is one of strongest players in the Southern Section. Tanaka had seven goals and 15 assists despite being the most closely marked Viking player. She will attend USC.

CASSIE CAMPBELL Forward Marina, Jr. Sunset League most valuable offensive player. She had 29 goals and 14 assists and helped the Vikings extend their unbeaten string to 39 games and win second consecutive Division I title.

JILL NELSON Forward Newport Harbor, So. Highly skilled player who scored 23 goals and had six assists and was named Sea View League most valuable player. Helped the Sailors to third place in the league after finishing sixth in 1992-93.

CHRISSY WHALEN Forward Mater Dei, Sr. Catalyst for the Monarchs, who upset Capistrano Valley and won the South Coast League title. Had nine goals and eight assists and helped Monarchs advance to the Division I semifinals.

Sarah Lang: Goalkeeper Laguna Hills, Sr. Had 14 shutouts and .64 goals-against average.

Julie Peck: Defender Mater Dei, So. Solidified Monarch defense. Scored three goals.

Jenny Benson: Midfielder Marina, So. Quickest Viking. Had 15 goals and 13 assists.

Laurie Fritz: Midfielder Kennedy, Sr. Garden Grove League MVP. Scored 20 goals.

Kristi Hales: Midfielder El Modena, Sr. Century League offensive MVP. Six goals, 10 assists.

Rhonda Partida: Midfielder Sunny Hills, Sr. Freeway League MVP. Had 20 goals and 14 assists.

Kim Thompson: Midfielder Capistrano Valley, Sr. Strong defender who had three goals and four assists.

Amber Duarte: Forward La Habra, Jr. Had 31 goals and 12 assists for Highlanders.

Kim Engesser: Forward Ocean View, Jr. Had 25 goals and 13 assists for Seahawks.

Deborah Hargrave: Forward Fullerton, Jr. Had 28 goals and 16 assists for Indians.

Elizabeth Willemse: Forward Los Alamitos, Jr. Empire League MVP. 21 goals and nine assists.
