Roberti Deserves a Pat on the Back

Share

* State Sen. David Roberti deserves compliments for the tremendous efforts he has extended to El Proyecto del Barrio.

El Proyecto del Barrio is a nonprofit human-service organization that provides multiple services, including primary medical care at two clinics in Arleta and Pacoima. The Pacoima clinic was severely damaged and “yellow tagged” for limited entry as a result of the earthquake. This designation rendered the clinic unable to provide urgent and primary medical care in the direct aftermath of the disaster.

Although faced with the distractions of the impending recall election, Roberti was the first elected official to offer his services. He assisted us in securing food donations that allowed El Proyecto del Barrio to distribute food to more than 5,000 people. He arranged for the lease of modular units and is assisting us in securing the necessary permits to set up the modular units. He visited the site of our damaged clinic and pledged to assist us in our efforts to provide medical services. All this was done without any fanfare or press releases.

With the recall forces stating that he does not care about his district and the wrath he is subject to due to his position on gun control, Sen. Roberti is due for some positive words.

We could not have resumed the immediate provision of medical services without his help.
