* Television: In its first major diversification from film distribution, Savoy Pictures Entertainment is linking up with Fox Television Stations in a $100-million venture to buy stations that would be Fox affiliates. SF Broadcasting will be 58%-owned by Fox, 41%-owned by Savoy and 1%-owned by Savoy senior executives Victor Kaufman and Lewis J. Korman. Korman said the group’s lawyers believe that Fox’s passive role means any acquisitions by the venture will not count against limits on stations Fox can own under Federal Communications Commission rules. Thomas Herwitz, who ran the Fox-owned station in Washington, was named the venture’s president. Separately, Savoy confirmed a non-exclusive film distribution deal overseas with Rank Organization.
