NIT ROUNDUP : Larson Leads BYU Past Arizona State
Russell Larson sat out nine minutes of the second half with foul trouble but still scored 22 points to lead Brigham Young to a 74-67 victory over Arizona State in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Thursday night at Provo, Utah.
Larson scored four points as BYU (22-9) broke from a 59-59 tie with a 6-0 spurt after Arizona State (15-13) had a 10-3 run.
OTHER GAMES Kevin Swann sank four free throws in the final 22 seconds, and Old Dominion (21-9) was a 76-74 winner over Manhattan (19-11). . . . Askia Jones scored 20 points to lead Kansas State (18-12) to a 78-67 victory over Mississippi State (18-11). . . . Andre Bovain had 20 points to lead Clemson (17-15) in a 96-85 victory over Southern Mississippi (15-15). . . . Pervires Greene scored 19 points for West Virginia (17-11) in an 85-69 victory over Davidson (22-8). . . . Kerry Kittles had 34 points for Villanova (16-12) in a 103-79 victory over Canisius (22-7). . . . Jeff Brown scored 27 points as Gonzaga (22-7) won, 80-76, at Stanford (17-11).
