The surprising run of Cal State Fullerton’s Laszlo Molnar in the NCAA wrestling championships ended a match short of a title Saturday.

Oklahoma State’s Mark Branch beat Molnar, 4-2, in the 167-pound final in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Molnar and Branch were unseeded. Molnar had advanced to the championship match with a 5-4 upset of No. 1 Shaon Fry of Missouri on Friday.

Branch’s victory helped Oklahoma State dethrone three-time defending champion Iowa for the team title. The Cowboys finished with 94.75 points to 76.50 for the Hawkeyes.
