BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ELSEWHERE : Orioles Trade Segui to Mets
Baltimore first baseman David Segui, who started 127 games last season but was relegated to a backup role this spring because of the arrival of free agent Rafael Palmeiro, was traded to the New York Mets for two minor leaguers, pitcher Tom Wegmann and shortstop Kevin Baez. . . . Baltimore pitcher Sid Fernandez, sidelined with bursitis in his left should, has been given the go-ahead to start throwing again. . . . The Braves placed reliever Gregg Olson on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right elbow. . . . Michael Jordan, two days after suffering a knee injury, went one for five for Chicago’s Class-A Prince William team in a 5-4 victory over Pittsburgh’s Class-A Salem team. In four minor league games, he is three for 15 with two stolen bases and two RBIs.
