MISSION VIEJO : Pool Cleaner Spill Snarls A.M. Traffic
A gallon container of swimming pool cleaner that fell onto Crown Valley Parkway Monday morning tied up rush-hour traffic for about two hours, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Someone discovered the container of muriatic acid about 8:15 a.m., prompting officials to close the Crown Valley Parkway on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5, CHP Officer Robert Polzin said. Smoke was coming from the container, he said.
A private hazardous waste team on contract with the California Department of Transportation cleaned the spill, and the lanes reopened about 10:15 a.m., Polzin said.
