Times Names Theater Critic

Laurie Winer, a New York theater writer and an associate editor at Harper’s Bazaar, has been named theater critic for the Los Angeles Times.

Winer has written theater criticism and features extensively for the New York Times and the Washington Post. She also served as Off-Broadway critic for the Wall Street Journal and was a theater columnist for New York Woman magazine.

Winer is a graduate of New York University, where she was a double major in film and English. She will join the staff in June, replacing Sylvie Drake, who retired.
