A robbery in Northridge left two brothers dead and two of three suspects in custody, including one who was accidentally wounded by a gunman who escaped, police said Thursday.

The attack occurred at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 8600 block of Wilbur Avenue, said Detective Tom Broad of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station.

Alfredo Cordova, 44, and his brother Jose, 48, died at the scene, Broad said. The Cordovas and two other men were standing near parked cars when two men, one of them armed, tried to rob them, Broad said.

The victims struggled with the robbers and one struck the gunman on the wrist, deflecting the weapon. But a third gunman approached and opened fire, fatally wounding the brothers and accidentally wounding one of the robbers before fleeing, Broad said. The wounded man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, reportedly was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police plan to seek robbery and murder charges against him and Antonio Bilboa, 18, of North Hills.
