Amtrak to Ban Smoking on Short, Medium Runs

WASHINGTON —
Amtrak will ban smoking on all short- and medium-distance trains effective May 1.
The railroad passenger system also announced Thursday that smoking will be limited to station platforms at designated stops for certain long-distance overnight trains.
The change means 82% of Amtrak trains will be smoke-free, up from 62%, the announcement said.
