Bruce Jenkins of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that the Dodgers are being written off as West Division contenders, but he expects them to “charge right back into contention, because they always do.”

“Now, we’re not picking the Dodgers this season, but only because we’d have to live with it all year.

“It’s something you just don’t do in Northern California, just as you don’t do lunch, take a meeting, have a power breakfast or dress that doggie in a lovely pink shawl.

“Around my neighborhood, picking the Dodgers constitutes a distinct brand of local felony--and some of these guys own chain saws.”
