THOUSAND OAKS : Freeway Crash Injures Agoura Woman, 23
A traffic accident early Saturday morning in Thousand Oaks left an Agoura woman seriously injured, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Heather Dawn Sandy, 23, was driving south on the Ventura Freeway near Hampshire Road shortly after 4 a.m. when she veered, struck the center divider. Her vehicle overturned several times, officials said.
She suffered major head injuries and was taken to Westlake Hospital, where she underwent surgery, a nursing supervisor said. Sandy was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit Saturday night.
Sandy’s passenger, Carrie Mcauliffe, 26, of Oxnard, suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment, officials said.
The CHP briefly closed a portion of the southbound Ventura Freeway at Hampshire Road after the accident.
