The most shots Arizona guard Damon Stoudamire attempted before his five-of-24 performance against Arkansas on Saturday was 23 against California earlier this season.

The difference against the Bears was that he made nine and finished with 20 points. Arkansas’ Beck said that fatigue played a major role in Stoudamire’s off game.

“We know that the type of team we have wears teams down,” Beck said. “We knew that when we run the ball it is hard to keep up with us and when I saw that Arizona was only taking one guy out at a time, I knew that they were in trouble.

“You could see them dragging down the court and losing their dribble. (Stoudamire) got tired but he kept on shooting and you could see his frustration.”

Still, Stoudamire had eight rebounds and six assists.

A bright spot for Arizona was the play of reserve forward Corey Williams, who surprised Arkansas with his outside shooting.

Williams, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, had made only 11 of 35 three-pointers in his career before Saturday, but he came off the bench to make four of six to tie his career-high of 14 points.
