College District Lists ’94 Priorities

Share

Maintaining campus buildings and improving students’ access to financial aid topped the list of priorities approved this week by trustees of the Ventura County Community College District.

The trustees compiled the list in an attempt to define the scope and importance of the issues they hope to tackle in 1994. The final version, with the objectives listed by priority, was released at the district board meeting Tuesday.

Improving the safety and durability of campus buildings made the list, trustees said, because college officials have repeatedly insisted that many campus facilities are in need of repair.

Increasing financial aid access also topped the district’s priorities, they said, because there is evidence that students are not enrolling at the district because they cannot get their financial aid soon enough or they are not aware they are eligible for financial aid.

Also high on the list were research to assess student achievement at the district, computerization of student registration and improvement of campus parking facilities.
