Share

The Community Development Department is sponsoring two projects to clean up areas of the city and is seeking volunteers to help do the work.

People are invited to help clean up Canyon Park and portions of west Costa Mesa on April 23. Necessary equipment will be provided by the city.

In west Costa Mesa, volunteers will clean up litter, paint over graffiti, repair and paint fences and haul away unwanted items from balconies and alleys. The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in the 2200 block of Rutgers Drive, department officials said.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at 970 Arbor St. to clean up Canyon Park. The cleanup will continue until 1 p.m. People will remove litter and weeds and plant shrubs, ground cover and trees.

All volunteers are invited for lunch and entertainment at Canyon Park after the cleanup. Also at the park, local service organizations, community and youth groups will talk about the services they provide and distribute information.

To sign up as a volunteer, or for more information about the cleanup events, call Paula Schaefer at (714) 754-5023.
