COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL : UCLA Rebounds to Down USC

UCLA started slowly but gained momentum in a 12-15, 15-11, 15-8, 15-8 victory over USC in the final of the UCLA volleyball tournament Saturday at Pauley Pavilion.
Jeff Nygaard had 27 kills and nine blocks and Tim Kelly added 10 blocks to lead the top-ranked Bruins (22-1) before a crowd of 1,061.
Chris Underwood and Jason Mulholland had 33 kills each in a losing effort for fourth-ranked USC (15-5).
USC gained a 5-0 lead in the first game before the Bruins came back to tie it twice before finally losing the game.
In the third place game, fifth-ranked Cal State Northridge (15-9) defeated No. 14 Loyola Marymount (6-19), 15-3, 15-13, 15-11.
