Los Angeles Councilman Richard Alarcon’s director of communications is leaving at the end of April to become director of media relations for KCBS-TV, the councilman announced Friday.

Sybil MacDonald, who has overseen Alarcon’s media relations since August, said she will begin her new job in May. Prior to working for Alarcon, MacDonald worked for a video outlet firm designing a model for a Hispanic video store.

She has also worked as director of Hispanic public relations for a public relations firm and public relations director for KMEX-TV in Los Angeles.

MacDonald’s departure is the third staff change Alarcon’s office has undergone in his short tenure. In February, Alarcon hired Mayor Richard Riordan’s press secretary, Annette Castro, to be his chief of staff in City Hall. In March, Leo Briones, an Alarcon deputy overseeing mail operations, quit to become vice president of a public relations firm in Woodland Hills. Briones has not been replaced.
