Police were seeking witnesses Tuesday to a traffic accident on Olive Avenue where an 82-year-old Burbank woman crossing the street was struck and killed by a van.

“We have no witnesses wh came forward,” said Burbank Police Detective Richard Bison.

Georgiana Hutchinson, 82, of Burbank was pronounced dead at the scene by Burbank Fire Department paramedics after the 10:52 a.m. accident. Bison said the woman had been crossing Olive Avenue northbound at Beachwood Drive in an unmarked crosswalk when she was struck by a van driven by Anthony Ivancich, 51, of Hollywood.

No charges have been filed against Ivancich, who had been driving east on Olive Avenue just after turning off of Verdugo Avenue when the accident happened, Bison said.

“The questions are: ‘Was she legally and safely in the intersection?’ and ‘If she was, then why didn’t he yield to her?’ ” Bison said.

Bison said Ivancich was questioned at the scene and not taken into custody.

Police diverted traffic off Olive Avenue between Verdugo and Virginia avenues near the Izay Park until about 2 p.m.

Bison asked that any witnesses to the accident, which occurred in front of Genio’s Restaurant, call him at 818-953-8650.
