LOS ANGELES : Tuttle Seeks Outside Probe of City Building Program
City Controller Rick Tuttle on Wednesday called for an outside investigation of the city’s program to construct and improve sewers, libraries, police stations, bridges and other city facilities.
Last year, the city ordered a dramatic speedup in the spending of millions of dollars in voter-approved bonds. But Tuttle maintains that the construction program is in chaos and still has not produced accurate timetables for completion.
“The disorganization in the leadership of this program and the failure to have a meaningful schedule and resource plan raise serious concerns,” Tuttle said in a letter to Mayor Richard Riordan.
