City officials are asking for help to clean Pepper Tree Park and the Tustin Area Senior Center on Saturday as part of the countywide observance of Volunteer Connection Day.

Volunteers should wear work clothes and gloves, but the city will provide the tools, according to recreation supervisor Randy Westrick. He said the volunteers will paint benches and tables, plant flowers, rake leaves and sweep the park sidewalks.

At the Senior Center next to the park, volunteers will scrub floors, wash the windows, clean the tables and kitchen “and give the place a little shine,” Westrick said.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. The work is expected to completed by 2 p.m., Westrick said.

In addition to the cleanup, there will be a canned-food drive, he said. Those unable to volunteer are encouraged to donate food, which later will be donated to local food banks.

The Tustin Area Senior Center is at 200 South C St. Pepper Tree Park is next to the Senior Center.
