Three young women who followed a waitress home and robbed her outside her apartment in Port Hueneme were arrested minutes after the incident, authorities said Monday.

“I think they were surprised someone came up to them so quick,” said Oxnard Sgt. Dan Christian, who made the arrest Sunday morning.

The victim, Crystal Borja, 18, said she drove home after a late shift as a waitress about 4:15 a.m. Sunday and was followed by three young women in a car.

After she got out of her car, Borja said the oldest of the trio approached her and asked for directions to Point Mugu. The other two stayed in the car, Borja said.

After she gave directions, Borja said she turned to go into her apartment when the woman put a gun to her head and robbed her of her keys, money and car stereo.

Borja called police immediately after the trio fled. Christian, who said Oxnard and Port Hueneme police share the same radio frequency, was patrolling the area and heard the report. Soon after, he spotted a car matching the description Borja had given, he said.

Christian said he pulled the trio over in the 5500 block of Arcturas Road in Oxnard and took them into custody without incident.

The gun used in the robbery turned out to be a fake, Christian said.

Rosemary Vega, 24, of Oxnard was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail at Ventura County Jail on suspicion of robbery and criminal conspiracy. She was scheduled to be arraigned today.

The two other are juveniles, ages 14 and 17, both of Oxnard. Their names were not released because of their ages.
