BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Urbani Promotion Becomes Demotion
Less than a day after Manager Joe Torre announced that Tom Urbani would join the St. Louis Cardinals’ starting rotation, he reversed himself and optioned Urbani to triple-A Louisville.
Urbani (0-2) took the loss and saw his earned-run average soar to 6.59 Monday night in a 7-6 loss to Colorado. To replace Urbani, the Cardinals recalled right-hander Frank Cimorelli from Louisville.

The Florida Marlins said closer Bryan Harvey will be sidelined only 15 days with a strained pitching elbow. . . . Michael Jordan extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the double-A Birmingham Barons’ 4-3 loss to Greenville, N.C. He is batting .327.
