An Oxnard bakery was closed briefly after health inspectors found cockroach infestation and discovered unfinished ceiling repairs, according to a county report.

Ortiz Bakery at 101 N. Rose Ave. was closed March 14 after county inspectors found the insects, according to public health officials. Inspectors also found gnat parts inside a bulk container of lard.

The container was immediately thrown out, officials said.

The bakery was given permission to reopen the following day after proving that it had exterminated the roaches and repaired a ceiling above an oven, the report said.
