* Bill Quinn; Television, Movie and Stage Actor

Bill Quinn, a television, film and stage actor whose career included roles for the Mercury Playhouse radio troupe and in the movie “Star Trek V,” died last week in Camarillo. He was 81.

Quinn, who had lived in Camarillo for 17 years, was born in Manhattan in 1912.

He made his theatrical debut at age 5 as the youngest member of the Quinn Brothers, a vaudeville children’s act. He attended New York’s Professional Children’s School before landing a series of Broadway roles in such productions as “Winterset” and “Daddies.”

His movie credits included parts in “Twilight Zone--The Movie” and “Advise & Consent.” He had recurring roles on several television series such as “Archie Bunker’s Place,” “The Rifleman,” “Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law” and in his son-in-law’s series, “The Bob Newhart Show.”

Quinn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Catherine and three daughters, Ginnie Newhart, Eileen Quinn and Mary Ellen Wire.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. today at the San Fernando Mission Rey Chapel, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the home run by the Motion Picture and Television Fund.
