F. Ruth Moore; Threw Christmas Parties for Poor Children

F. Ruth Moore, 64, who became nationally recognized for her 28-year history of Christmas parties for underprivileged children. She provided gifts, refreshments and entertainment for thousands of young people from throughout Los Angeles County. Mrs. Moore started in 1965 with 500 young guests and soon formed a volunteer organization to continue the program. All food and toys were purchased with proceeds from fund-raising events she sponsored. She also sent Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families, staged holiday parties at the Veterans Hospital in Westwood and organized outings for needy children to movies, parks and other attractions. In Los Angeles on April 28 of a heart attack.
