Al’s River Cat Wires ‘Slew Field for Easy Three-Length Victory

Golden Eagle Farm’s 7-5 favorite Al’s River Cat took command at the start and never looked back to win the $56,600 Tsunami Slew Handicap by three lengths under jockey Alex Solis Friday night at Hollywood Park.

It was the third win in eight starts for Al’s River Cat, who earned $31,850 and gave Solis and trainer Lewis Cenicola their second victories of the night.

Al’s River Cat, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Riverman, paid $4.80, $3.40 and $2.60. Troyalty prompted the pace in second along the rail early, dropped back to third on the turn, then finished gamely to take second.

Troyalty, ridden by Corey Black, returned $3.80 and $2.80. Sharp Try rallied from far back to gain third, one length behind Troyalty, and paid $3 to show.

Al’s River Cat covered 5 1/2 furlongs on a firm turf course in 1:02 1/5 under 117 pounds.

Ocean Indien, Don Icecapade, Windwood Lad, Feliz Hora and College Town completed the order of finish.

Al’s River Cat has never failed to earn a check in eight starts and his earnings now stand at $92,550.
