A 35-year-old Thousand Oaks woman has been charged with 31 counts of child molestation for having sex almost once a month with a teen-age boy for 2 1/2 years, prosecutors said Wednesday.

With tears in her eyes, Gloria G. Goldman appeared for arraignment Wednesday in Ventura County Municipal Court. However, the arraignment was put off until May 20 and Goldman remains free in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Goldman is charged with molesting the Thousand Oaks boy at least once a month from August, 1991, to February, 1993, with the exception of one month in 1992.

The alleged incidents began when the boy, now 17, was 15, the complaint says.

Goldman, a former teacher, faces 11 counts of a lewd act upon a child, 18 counts of oral copulation and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. Deputy Dist. Atty. Bob Calvert declined to discuss the facts in the case, or whether authorities suspect any other boys are involved.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob LeMay said the victim revealed the alleged affair after recently converting to Christianity.

The boy initially told a church peer counselor, who reported it to investigators. The boy talked with authorities about three weeks ago, LeMay said.

“He’s emotionally troubled by the whole incident,” LeMay said. The teen-ager has temporarily moved from the area, he said.

The public defender’s office was appointed to represent the woman. She left the courthouse without talking to reporters.
