The Mark Taper Forum co-produced three of the four productions nominated for best play in this year’s Tony Award competition. Nominations for the annual Broadway awards were announced in New York Monday.

“Angels in America: Perestroika,” “The Kentucky Cycle” and “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” all went to Broadway after successful productions at the Taper. The fourth nominee in that category is Arthur Miller’s “Broken Glass.”

The new Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical, “Passion,” received 10 nominations--the most garnered by any one show. “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” and “She Loves Me” placed second in total number of awards, with nine each.

“Angels in America: Perestroika” received six nominations. “The Kentucky Cycle” got three, while “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” won two.

In three categories, the Tony nomination committee unanimously requested a reduction in the number of nominees from the standard four, but in two of those categories the request was denied by the Tony Administration Subcommittee.

The awards will be presented June 12.
