Tansley’s Personal Best Puts Him ‘on Bubble’
Cal State Fullerton distance runner Mike Tansley ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 8 minutes 52.53 seconds on Saturday at the Adidas Oregon Track Classic, putting himself “on the bubble” for qualifying for the NCAA championships, Titan Coach John Elders said.
Tansley improved his top mark by more than three seconds while finishing ninth in a field that included many of the top U.S. steeplechasers.
His time must be among the NCAA’s top 18 to make the national meet, and Elders said it should place him between 14th and 18th.
