Eastern Sierra Trout Anglers Happily Thrown for the Loop

Share

During the Memorial Day weekend, trout fishermen flocked to the Eastern Sierra in numbers not seen since opening day, and those who settled in along the June Loop apparently had the most success.

Tony Stevens of Reseda caught an 8-pound cutthroat trout from shore on a Panther Martin lure, and Sean Kaziwara of Ridgecrest took a 6-0 rainbow on Power Bait.

At Gull Lake, Mike Borba of Bishop caught a 5-0 rainbow on an olive woolly bugger fly. At Grant Lake, Bruce Hill of Downey landed a 4-11 rainbow on a gold Hot Shot lure, and at Rush Creek Bill Hansen of Los Alamitos caught a 3-9 rainbow on red salmon eggs.

“We’ve had some excellent fishing, and on a little bit of everything--not just Power Bait,” Elayne Logue of Ernies Tackle said.
