Share

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who has allegedly harassed children in Del Obispo Park.

Frightened youngsters reported that a man in his early 20s tried to converse with them May 25 at the park, causing them to flee, according to authorities.

“He was apparently trying to gain their confidence by engaging (them) in conversation,” said sheriff’s Lt. Dan Martini.

The man was also seen at the park, on Del Obispo Street near Pacific Coast Highway, on at least one occasion in March.

Martini said witnesses indicated the man spent time watching the children before approaching them.

“We’d like to talk with him to find out what his interest is in these children,” Martini said.

The man is described as 5-foot-8 and about 160 pounds, with dark brown or black shoulder-length hair. Investigators say his face has acne scars.

Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Mark Simon at (714) 647-7449 or Sheriff’s Department Investigators Steve Sharpe or Joe Homs at (714) 248-3552.
