It’s been two years since Santa Paula’s Glen Tavern Restaurant (at the Glen Tavern Inn) has been open to the public. But that’s about to change.

Manager Sunsgshil Kang said folks can expect the place to be back in business in a month or so. In its latest incarnation, said Kang, the Glen Tavern will be a traditional American steakhouse.

As for staff, Kang said he is conducting interviews for just about every position.

Which came first, the chicken or the Eggs ‘N’ Things?

For longtime residents of Ventura County, that might seem like a pretty close call. The Eggs ‘N’ Things chain has been around for about 20 years.

It all began with the Camarillo restaurant--which was followed by others in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Ventura. And as of this week, there will be a new addition to the family, this one in Ojai.

“We’re going to do a lot of banquets, catering and large parties,” said Debbie McClintock, general manager of Eggs ‘N’ Things.

The Ojai Eggs ‘N’ Things is located at 1103 Maricopa Highway.

Chef Neal Rosenthal, owner Mario Comandatore and the other powers that be have finalized the menu for the new Mario’s Bistro, scheduled to open next week at the Shopping at the Rose center in Oxnard.

For lunch, there will plenty of salads including a double bruscetta, one topped with tomatoes, basil and garlic, the other with sauted eggplant and gorgonzola cheese.

As for sandwiches, look for house-cured salmon served with herbed mascarpone and the Rosenthal version of the BLT, with pancetta, fresh tomatoesand romaine.

The dinner menu will feature tenderized beef, rolled and stuffed with tomatoes, olives, mushrooms and herbs, braised in Chianti and served on spinach-laced garlic mashed potatoes.
