WESTLAKE VILLAGE : Catch-Basin Cleaning to Limit Odors, Pests
San Fernando Valley residents can look forward to better drainage, fewer rodents and a decrease in foul odors, once this year’s catch basin clean-out kicks off in August.
The clean-out effort by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works is scheduled to take nine weeks. It will involve about 5,400 catch basins--the gutters between the curb and the street--in the area between the beaches to just west of downtown, Westlake Village and the incorporated zones around it.
Drainage cleaning is conducted annually and expected to cost between $40,000 and $50,000.
