Two men were arrested Monday on suspicion of stabbing a 17-year-old Camarillo youth at a Camarillo restaurant, authorities said.

The victim, Joey Allejo, was in fair condition Monday afternoon at Ventura County Medical Center.

The two suspects, Joseph McKeen, 20, of Oxnard and Michael Lowe, 30, of Port Hueneme were being held Monday on $250,000 bail each at Ventura County Jail.

The incident began about 2:30 a.m. Monday when Allejo got into an argument with McKeen, Lowe and another man outside the Denny’s Restaurant at 1659 E. Daily Drive.

The fight escalated when one of the men got a knife from his car, authorities said.

Allejo, with the three men in pursuit, then ran into the restaurant, past diners and into the kitchen, where he was stabbed several times in front of at least three witnesses, detectives said. One of the men Allejo was arguing with was found at the scene and arrested but later released.

The other two men fled the restaurant but were found after a brief search of the area.

Investigators said Monday they did not know what triggered the fight.

McKeen and Lowe are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
