White Was Inaccurate
In the May 20 edition of The Times, Superior Court candidate Colleen Toy White expressed concern about the validity of the recent poll conducted by the Ventura County Bar Assn. The survey, which was directed to all attorneys in Ventura County, favored her opponent, James M. Farley.
Ms. White stated in an interview that she expected the results because a “large number of the (bar) members make their careers defending criminals.”
That was an inaccurate assumption. The survey was directed to nearly 1,400 attorneys, not just those identified as belonging to the Bar Assn. In fact, the Ventura County Criminal Defense Bar Assn., which represents most criminal defense attorneys in the county, reports that it has only 93 active members.
