It figures. Trying to sum up opening day at the World Cup, an event official in Dallas offered an analogy to baseball, one of those popular American sports that have kept soccer on the back pages of the newspaper.
“I’d say it was a home run in Chicago and at least a stand-up triple in Dallas,” the official said.
