BRIEFLY : Scholarship: Venice High Freshman Awarded $12,000
A Venice High School freshman has won a $12,000 college scholarship, one of five such scholarships awarded to Los Angeles Unified School District students.
Le My Hoang was a recipient of the Warren Christopher Scholarship, established for Los Angeles Unified School district students.
The $1.5-million scholarship fund was created last year by O’Melveny & Myers, a Los Angeles law firm headed by Christopher until he was appointed secretary of state. Christopher is an alumnus of Hollywood High School.
For each of Hoang’s three remaining years of high school, $4,000 will be set aside for her college education. If Hoang maintains a cumulative 3.25 grade-point average, she will receive an additional $4,000 for college.
