THOUSAND OAKS : Ventura Freeway Traffic Stalled by Accident
An overturned van and camping trailer blocked southbound traffic on the Ventura Freeway for nearly 90 minutes Monday afternoon, but the driver emerged uninjured, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver, whom police did not identify, pulled onto the freeway at Ventu Park Road around 1 p.m., with his van towing a camper he recently purchased. The trailer started to whip and the driver, inexperienced at towing vehicles, lost control, according to police reports.
Both vehicles rolled over on the freeway near the Lynn Road exit, blocking all but one lane of the road.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, but hundreds of cars sat waiting for the freeway to clear. The van and trailer were towed away around 2:30 p.m.
