Fests to Offer Steady Stream of Rock : Benefits: On Sunday, six bands will play at Long Beach’s 4th Street Fair. A week later, ‘Independents Day’ in Santiago Canyon will feature 24 bands.

Two upcoming benefit festivals will feature local rock bands.

Among the attractions from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the 4th Street Fair in Long Beach will be six bands: in order of appearance, Flight 1965, Jah Children, Russell Scott & the Red Hots, Extra Soul Perception, Cake, and One Hit Wonder.

The fair, which also will feature vendors, games and food booths, will take place on 4th Street between Cherry and Junipero avenues, and proceeds will support educational programs at the ARK (Artists Reaching-out to Kids) Studio & Gallery in Long Beach. (310) 438-3335.

On July 3 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Ranch in Santiago Canyon, “Independents Day ‘94” will present 24 bands on four stages. The lineup includes Sublime, Primitive Painters, Vitamin L, Gameface, Munkafust, Flannel Nation, One Eye Open, Bitch Funky Sex Machine, Meal Ticket, Voo Doo Glow Skulls, the Grabbers, Uniform Choice, One Hit Wonder, Twister, Reel Big Fish, Standing Hawthorn, Go Go 13, Jimmy Eat World, DJ Melvis, Egg Beater, Mother’s Kitchen and Supernaturals.

The event will include an arts and crafts fair, food and beverage concessions and sports and games.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate; proceeds will benefit the Orangewood Home for abused children.
