In an effort to build goodwill throughout the community and the entire San Fernando Valley, Pacoima will hold its third annual Unity Day Fair today, Saturday and Sunday.

“We’re trying to show the rest of the San Fernando Valley we can live together,” Pacoima Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman Beatrice Hines said.

The festivities, sponsored by the chamber and the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, will kick off today at 4 p.m. at Hubert Humphrey Park with live entertainment, carnival rides, dancers and ethnic foods to show off the community’s cultural diversity.

The event runs until 10 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It will include speeches and appearances by community leaders, elected officials and clergy Saturday and Sunday. The event offers the perfect time and place to put recent racial tensions to bed and come together in celebration of unity, Hines said.

The park is at 12560 Filmore St. For information, call the chamber at (818) 899-7401.
