A Lancaster man died Friday morning after driving off the Antelope Valley Freeway into an embankment where his car overturned, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Curtis Sullivan, 38, lost control of his 1989 Nissan Stanza about 5 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway just north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, said CHP Officer Ben Dibene.

“For unknown reasons, he veered to the right and veered off the road, crashed through a guard rail, went down the embankment and overturned,” Dibene said.

Sullivan was driving about 65 m.p.h. and was wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred, Dibene said. There were no other passengers in the car.
