Everyone keeps expecting Bruce Springsteen to jam at the House of Blues with the Monday house band led by his former E Street Band keyboardist Danny Federici. Instead, he’s showing up everywhere but there. Last weekend he sat in with John Wesley Harding at McCabe’s (they did the Boss’ “Wreck on the Highway”). The two had met when Springsteen jammed with the Rock Bottom Remainders (the band of authors that includes Stephen King and Dave Barry) at a recent L.A. show. . . .

The Smithereens and the Wailing Souls will headline a July 21 benefit at the Palace for the family of the groups’ assistant manager John Schillaci, who died in an April car wreck in L.A. Comedian-actor Bobcat Goldthwait will emcee the event and other performers will be announced later. . . . The Smithereens have also just recorded a version of the Outsiders’ ‘60s garage-rock hit “Time Won’t Let Me” for the movie “Time Cops.” . . .

And Peter Cox (formerly of Go West) and Nicky Harris have recorded “We Can Find a Way” as the end title song for “Corrina, Corrina.” The soundtrack for the film, which stars Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta, will also feature vintage recordings by the likes of Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday. . . .

Showtime’s upcoming “Rebel Highway,” a series of ‘50s movies remade by today’s directors, will feature a soundtrack of ‘50s songs remade by today’s artists. An album from the series, “Fast Track to Nowhere” (due from A&M; on Aug. 19), will include Iggy Pop doing Eddie Cochran’s “C’mon Everybody,” a Babes in Toyland version of Little Richard’s “The Girl Can’t Help It,” and contributions from Los Lobos, Concrete Blonde and Sheryl Crow, among others. . . .

The debut album from the band Bloodline--which teams teen guitar whiz Joe Bonamasso with Berry Oakley Jr. (son of the late Allman Brothers bassist), Erin Davis (son of the late jazz great Miles Davis) and Waylon Krieger (son of ex-Doors guitarist Robby Krieger)--is due Aug. 23. . . .

George Thorogood and Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson are among those contributing tracks to an album of songs written by guitarist Peter Green, the troubled founder of Fleetwood Mac who left the band in the early ‘70s. . . .

Carleen Anderson, the goddaughter of the Godfather of Soul (James Brown, of course) has a solo album, “True Spirit,” due from Virgin on Sept. 6. . . .

We goofed when we referred to Power Station members John and Andy Taylor as “ex-members” of Duran Duran. John is still the double-D bassist. OK, Durannies, you can stop calling now.
