With Assist From Mikhailovsky, Blades Hang On Against Calgary

Share

Goaltender Max Mikhailovsky stopped eight shots in the final five minutes, three in the last 30 seconds, to help the Blades hold off the Calgary Rad’z, 7-6, in a Roller Hockey International game Thursday night at the Forum.

The Blades’ Steve Bogoyevac scored a power-play goal on a length-of-the-court breakaway with 5:21 to play, providing the final margin. Bogoyevac assisted on four other Blade goals.

With four Blade regulars out of the lineup, the Rad’z kept possession for nearly all of the final five minutes, but Mikhailovsky and the Blade defense held.

The victory in front of 4,015 put the Blades (5-3) in second place in the Pacific Division.

After a sloppy first half, Steve Wilson scored the only goal of the third quarter on a power-play transition shot from the left side, giving the Blades a 6-4 lead at 10:48.

Mike Ross and Craig Charron suffered game-ending injuries in the third quarter, leaving the Blades with only two lines and two substitutes for most of the second half.
